A Damn Good Question

Jason Rosenhouse of EvolutionBlog poses the (damn good) question "Why Isn't Barney Frank Speaker of the House?"

I echo Rosenhouse's question. Frank would make a fantastic, common sense bull to head the Democratic party in the House of Representatives. His handling of a Hitlerizer was absolutely the correct way of handling a lunatic. And he has on other occassions called bullshit when bullshit was flying, remained rational as Bill O'Reilly spewed stupidity, and actually walked out of interviews rather than suffer fools. Not a bad approach at all IMHO.

Barney Frank would be a better leader than Nancy Pelosi.

Mark Foley became the lead story on every main stream media outlet and was forced into resignation for sending inappropriate e-mail to an underage page. Barney Frank paid 80 dollars for sex with a young prostitute Steve Gobie. Gobie ran a prostitution ring out of Frank's Capital Hill apartment.

Frank even went so far as to write letters on Congressional stationary to Gobie's probation officer on his behalf. Frank received a reprimand. Had he been a Republican like Mark Foley I can assure you we would not be in this banking mess we are in today because Mr Frank would never have had the opportunity to be in charge of Finance in this country because the media would have crucified him.

Well, if all that is true (not saying it isn't, but I haven't really looked into Frank's past) then that could be why he hasn't risen further.

Regarding Frank being the reason for the banking mess. Wow. Right wingers can be so very fucking dense. Tell me, anonymous, when did Mr. Frank rise "to be in charge of Finance"? And then, in your estimation, is that really the amount of time required to create "this banking mess"?

Old news Anon. Mass. has some dense individuals that would put a self-serving arrogant sexual pervert in DC to represent them. He is obvious an elitist who sees himself above everyone he represents. Being Gay, he can get away with a little more by using that card.

Barney Fife would be a better choice even even now. He certainly couldn't screw things up any worse.

Thanks for your typically insightful response there Louie.

Well, it wouldn't take much to do better than Pelosi, but Frank? Let's forget his whorehouse (since anything that happened 20 years ago is irrelevant right, like Bush's DUI?), and concentrate on his tireless efforts to prevent any regulation of Fannie and Freddie. His huge role in the collapse is by itself enough to merit getting voted out of office.

Barney Frank is a bulldog for the left and does not tolerate fools.

I hope the good people of Massachusetts continue to re-elect him every other year.

Great, csm, Massachusetts deserves him. Too bad Teddy is gone, two for the price of one. Barney Frank is as culpable for the current financial problems as any Wall Street maven and he gets to keep his job and his great benefit package, yes that is the way it works in Washington.

He is more like a Maltese or a Poodle. One of those aggravating little dogs biting at your ankle. And Bawdyscot is absolutely correct in Frank's role in our financial melt down.

Barney Frank is a disrespectful, overbearing arrogant floozy. I'm not surprised he is in there considering who he represents. But no one takes the guy seriously anymore.

With Kennedy's death, may Mary Jo Kopechne now rest in peace. Only a Kennedy could have gotten away with what ted pulled off there.

Here is a heartfelt huzzah to Senator Kennedy. I commend him on his lifetime of service to the nation. May he rest in peace and may our nation not wait long for another great leader like him!

OK, Bawdy... Here is my statement then: "Barney Frank is NOT as culpable for the current financial problems as any Wall Street maven..."

There. We've both said opposite things and neither of us have backed it up with any proof.

In actuality, I'm not taking a position one way or the other, but blanket statements like these go in one ear and out the other. To me, it is the same as if you simply posted "blah blah blah blah blah"... maybe that will be my response in total next time something like that occurs.

Obama is the shepherd I did not want.
He leadeth me beside the still factories.
He restoreth my faith in the Republican party.
He guideth me in the path of unemployment for his party's sake.
Yea, though I walk through the valley of the bread line, I shall fear no hunger, for his bailouts are with me.
He has anointed my income with taxes, My expenses runneth over.
Surely, poverty and hard living will follow me all the days of my life, And I will live in a mortgaged home forever.
I am glad I am American, I am glad that I am free.
But I wish I were a dog ...
And Obama was a tree.
