Hey Lou, we talked before about what good Obama was going to do with his time as President. Well, I submit Obama's comment calling Kanye a "jackass" as a good. That is all I have for now, so stay tuned....
Don't forget that he gave authority to the SEAL commander to intervene in the pirate situation. So he's done two things right. I can't really think of any others. Sad, really, that those are the highlights to date.
Yes, both of those actions were commendable. He did give a good charge/challenge to the NAACP a few months back. I'm not sure he meant it but the thoughts were very good.
He gave the Queen and Ipod, brought a good laugh to me personally. That is always healthy.
If you want to lose a job he has done well there. If you like shopping sprees, well there is another positive.
That about sums it up. The bright side is, the halo is gone and he will be challenged from here on out.
On September 25th there will be a national prayer gathering of Muslims on the west front of the U..S. Capitol Building . They are expecting at least 50,000 to attend from mosques all across America . They will gather to pray from 4:00 AM until 7:00 PM. The gathering will take place by the site where U.S. . Presidents have been inaugurated since 1981. The organizers say that it was Obama's inauguration speech in January and his speech broadcast from Egypt in June that gave them the idea for this prayer gathering on Capitol Hill.
They have a website set up for this event. If you never look at another website look at this one, especially the final words:
Is anyone here going to tell me the Christian right wing conservative types aren't saying the same fucking thing? And is anyone here going to tell me I should be more sanguine because a Christian says it over a Muslim?
I have posted here before(and other blogs before that) that I would defend unto the death the right of humans to believe anything they fucking well want to. I could care less if Muslims want to pray at that spot every goddamn month. The problem I have is with a chickenshit anonymous who postulates a Muslim-bad, Christian-good ideology which flies in the face of the Constitution. Why should I, as an atheist, care what and where the Muslims want to pray. Come call me to arms when the Islamic among us want to call this a "Muslim Nation".

Good call, g. I'll second that motion.

I guess I'd rather have 'em praying than terrorizing. I mean, at least I know prayer does nothing.
Here's the url of the Snopes page about the upcoming event:

Thanks for posting the Snopes page, Bob. Snopes is a fantastic resource for verifying the veracity (or lack thereof) of Internet hoo-hah.
"Our time has come."
That is the last line.
