Tea Party Racists

Demonstrators outside the U.S. Capitol, angry over the proposed health care bill, shouted "nigger" Saturday at U.S. Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia congressman and civil rights icon who was nearly beaten to death during an Alabama march in the 1960s.

The protesters also shouted obscenities at other members of the Congressional Black Caucus, lawmakers said.

"They were shouting, sort of harassing," Lewis said. "But, it's okay, I've faced this before. It reminded me of the 60s. It was a lot of downright hate and anger and people being downright mean."

Lewis said he was leaving the Cannon office building to walk to the Capitol to vote when protesters shouted "Kill the bill, kill the bill," Lewis said.

"I said 'I'm for the bill, I support the bill, I'm voting for the bill'," Lewis said.

A colleague who was accompanying Lewis said people in the crowd responded by saying "Kill the bill, then the n-word."

"It surprised me that people are so mean and we can't engage in a civil dialogue and debate," Lewis said.

Rep. Emanuel Cleaver, D-Mo., said he was a few yards behind Lewis and distinctly heard "nigger."

No surprises here... this is about the intelligence level of the Tea Party idiots.

Csm,

If you want to tar ALL Tea Partyers with the same racist brush than you are no better than these fools who harken back to the ol' days. You have to know not all Tea Partyers are racist, my bet would be the majority aren't. Just because someone doesn't agree with you on important issues doesn't make them evil, dumb, misinformed, hard-hearted, racist, unAmerican or not worthy of life. It just makes them different.

I'm sure not ALL of them are racists... but unlike you, it seems to me that most of them are. And if you go around with people who shout the N word and paint pictures to make the president look like Hitler, then you deserve to be lumped together as the idiot you are.

csm said...

After posting a response, I have reconsidered a bit. You know what, get off your fucking high horse Bawdy. Just where the fuck did I say that ALL of them were racists?

Boys, boys, can't we all just get along? I'm sure is was just Puff Daddy and Eddie Murphy having a little fun!

You have a problem painting Big O as Hitler? We did the same to Bush! Politics is ugly, nasty and not for the weak. If names bother you get out! It has taken place since Washington by al parties and all forms of socio-economic groups.

Is the N word the new R word?

I never said you called All Tea Partyers racists, but you do have a tendency to lump peoples together. Remember, I am a right-wing wing nut.

As far as my high horse, well I sure as hell ain't responsible for any of the shit going on in Washington. You need a high hosre to keep out of the shit flowing form there.

Mike, by the "R" word, you do mean retarded, right?

csm said...

Perhaps I over-reacted, but the first sentence of the first comment here sure looks like you are saying that I am "painting" all the tea-baggers with the same "racist brush."

Here are the reasons, regardless of whether you are liberal or conservative, Democrat or Republican, or anything else, as to why it is not a good idea to associate with the tea party idiots:

A crowd of tea partiers shouted the "n word" at Congressman John Lewis, a former civil rights leader who marched with Dr. King.

They yelled homophobic epithets at Rep. Barney Frank, an openly gay congressman.

One tea party protester actually spat on a Black member of Congress.

Democrats who voted for reform began receiving death threats—one had a coffin left on his lawn and another was told snipers would kill the children of lawmakers who voted yes.

Several Democrats had their district offices vandalized, and a gas line was cut at a home that tea partiers mistakenly believed belonged to Rep. Tom Perriello.

Let me respond. Congressmen face this stuff on a weekly basis. The only reason this is now in the media is to deflect attention away from this past weekends vote. They hope to deflect attention away from this um, uh, er legislation?

R or D, is irrelevant. They both face hate speech, threats and even violence on a regular basis. Some of it from the Executive Branch!

Personally, and I have seen it and think it applies her....some of it is actually staged. How much, I couldn't say. Plants are not unusual. The one incident CSM outlines here cannot even be substantiated.

How the Left Fakes the Hate: A Primer

Yup, that's it. The left is making it all up. No one spat on anyone. And no one called anyone a nigger. It was just all dreamed up. Yup. Malkin sure know her shit.

As long as I got you to read one of her columns, thereby causing your stomach to turn... my work here is done =)

Oops... not quite done. I just stumbled onto this little bit from Breitbart...

2010: A Race Odyssey

Racism has two imperative roles it fulfills in our culture. It is big business and therefore it can never go away. If you look at the leaders of the racism business, Sharpton, Jackson, Wright and Farrakahn, where would they be financially without racism? Don’t think for a minute they want it to go away and lose the only widget they have to offer.
Second, it is the potent tool and a great fall-back for politicians who can utilize the inherent power. When political fever becomes too strong, the Ace of spades is a great trump card to trump any political discussion that becomes devastating.
Healthcare getting too hot? Pull out: “Did you see the white boy yell the N-word!” Wha, um, uh, What healthcare? The enchantment has worked again!
The fact we have the first ½ AA president in history not only has increased the division in America, it has revitalized the big business of race where it has not been in 25 years. Division is greater than ever in America where in fact true racism less in America today than in anytime since Lincoln. Big O has prove that to be true but the race hedge fund managers must keep the magic alive

csm said...

Thanks, G. You made me laugh out loud. That is the kind of response I sincerely enjoy! (I'm referring to the one about getting me to read one of Malkin's columns).

csm said...

It took me a little bit to digest your ignorant diatribe, Mike. But here is somewhat of a response.

Why are all of "the leaders of the racism business:" in your opinion,
black? KKK not in the racism business in your opinion? The "justice" system not in the racism business as it jails predominantly more blacks?

"Healthcare getting too hot?" Seems to me the Dems passed a healthcare bill. It is the idiots on the right who cannot accept that that resort to racists tactics... Oh, wait, I think I get it. You are saying it is fine to be a racist, but when you experience racism you should just shut the fuck up and move on?

And all this bullshit about the president being mixed race or half-black is the ultimate cop-out by closet racists. The man has a dark face and was treated like a black man, and called a black man for his entire life.

There is ONE thing I agree with in your statement: "racism (is) less in America today than in anytime since Lincoln." But that does NOT mean it is gone... no, not by a long shot. And when it raises its stinking, ugly head a big, bright light needs to be shined onto the ugliness.

csm said...

Oh, and should we now add Michael Steele as one of "the leaders of the racism business"?

G said...

Steele is actually playing what Larry Elder has termed a "victicrat"... portraying oneself as a victim rather than taking personal responsibility for his words and actions.

At the same time, it is remarkably hypocritical for Robert Gibbs to dismiss Steele's claim in that way while the administration and its supporters have been doing the exact same thing since the campaign.

csm,

Do you really think the justice system is racist? Whether more blacks or whites are jailed is completely irrelevant. The criminal justice system jails criminals who are caught, regardless of race.

Also, a statement like "It is the idiots on the right who cannot accept that that resort to racists tactics" is just ridiculous. Please identify those racists on the right, including references to what specifically indicates that they are racists.

Is the "Tea Party" a racist movement? Obviously not. Were a couple racist epithets shouted at people? We don't know for certain. But let's assume they were. Even if there were a couple dozen people shouting racist comments (and there aren't even any claims that there were that many) among THOUSANDS of people, that doesn't even remotely imply that the movement has anything to do with race.

Put together a group of thousands of people and you are pretty much guaranteed to have more than a handful of bigots in the crowd.

Good thing I have never been called a cracker or a white mf-er for cheering for the opposing team at an NFL game. Another reason not to associate with those "NFL Fan Racists"..their team starts losing on those nut jobs resort to racism!
