McCain Heats Up the Smear Campaigning

Republican White House hopeful John McCain said Friday that his Democratic rival Barack Obama is further to the left than the only Socialist US senator.

Asked by a reporter for the Kansas City Star newspaper if McCain, 71, believed Obama was an "extremist," McCain replied:

"That's his voting record. All I said was his voting record... is more to the left than the announced Socialist in the United States Senate, Bernie Sanders of Vermont," McCain said according to a video of the interview posted online.

"Do you think he's a socialist, Barack Obama?" the interviewer asked.

"I don't know," McCain answered.

So, let's see. McCain has recently moved very far to the right. Some might say he is more to the right than a Nazi.

"So do I think John McCain is a Nazi?"

I guess I'd have to say, I don't know.

Contraception = Abortion?

The New York Times reports that the Bush Administration wants to require all recipients of aid under federal health programs to certify that they will not refuse to hire nurses and other providers who object to abortion and even certain types of birth control.

While current law allows health care providers and professionals to refuse to provide abortions based on their religious beliefs, this provision would threaten the funding of organizations and health facilities if they do not hire people who would refuse to provide birth control and defines abortion so broadly that it would include many types of birth control, including oral contraception.

This is so fucking ridiculous - - it is the type of shit that religion creates. If you don't want to provide legal medical assistance to people who require it, well, then here's an idea, don't become a nurse or a doctor, you stupid shithead! Maybe I'll become a construction worker and then tell the boss that my religion forbids me to use tools. Or I'll get a job as a chef and then tell the boss I cannot cook with any seasoning because my religion forbids it... better yet, I'll go to work at a pizza place but then refuse to put pepperoni on the cheese because I'm Jewish!

And what's with making contraception the equivalent of abortion? Hey, let's go all in, and make it illegal not to fuck every woman you come in contact with... because, well, if you don't fuck her then she can't get pregnant and that is the same as aborting your hypothetical child...

These Bushies are some sick mother fuckers.

Sour Grapes and a Difference Between McCain and Obama

Barack Obama is getting a lot of press for his upcoming overseas travels. He plans to visit Europe and then Afghanistan and Iraq. In a desperate attempt to appear relevant and get some coverage himself, McCain is calling Obama's European visit political, with the implication being, I guess, that that is a bad thing.

I understand John McCain's frustration. Barack Obama is the interesting candidate and many in the media are falling over themselves to cover Obama. Of course, this is a mixed blessing for Obama given the content of some of that coverage (e.g. The New Yorker). But Obama is fresh and different and that is news. McCain has run for president before and there isn't much that is fresh about him (except maybe his newfound conservatism, and that ain't gonna sell magazines, newspapers, and ads).

But back to the sour grapes. McCain visited Colombia and Mexico earlier this month. Did we hear Obama denigrate these visits, call them "political" or try to weasel into them?

Barack Obama has a dignity that John McCain cannot match.

Barack Under Siege

It has been a rough couple of days for Barack Obama. First Jesse Jackson wants to cut his nuts off, then the New Yorker paints him as a Muslim and his wife as a terrorist as they happily burn the flag.

How utterly stupid is this presidential race going to get?

Do You Like the Teachings of Jesus?

If you are an atheist, agnostic, or are just plain non-religious, but still profess to like or follow the teachings of Jesus, make sure you read this posting from Greta Christina's Blog:

The Messed-Up Teachings of Jesus

After reading this it is hard to argue that many people actually even know what Jesus taught...
