Bravo to the Heroes at the ACLU!

The American Civil Liberties Union sued the government Thursday, seeking release of legal memos which authorized torture, authored by Bush administration lawyers. The lawsuit also seeks release of communications between the Bush White House and the Central Intelligence Agency related to the interrogation of terror war prisoners.

The civil rights group said in a Thursday media advisory that the suit was filed following the White House’s failure to respond to a Freedom of Information Act request.

“The information already in the public domain makes clear that the torture policies were devised and developed at the highest levels of the Bush administration, but there are still unanswered questions about precisely what the policies permitted, how they were implemented and who specifically signed off on them,” said Jameel Jaffer, Director of the ACLU National Security Project, in a release. “This lawsuit is an effort to fill some of the gaps in the narrative.”

Two of the documents sought were authored by Bush attorneys John Yoo and Steven Bradbury, who face possible disciplinary action after a Justice Department probe found their legal reasoning to be sloppy and unprofessional.

The civil rights group is publicizing the lawsuit as the official kickoff to their “Accountability for Torture” initiative.

Obama does something right and the ACLU pouts. Obama is more concerned about the security of our troops than looney left wing nutballs. Good for him. We all know the ACLU only cares about the ACLU not about our brave men and woman. He needs just go ahead and classify it and end the controversy. The issue is over.

Classify what? I thought there was no torture?

Depends: Whose definition? Obama's or his Attorney general's definition?

Some of the photos are of crimes committed that have been prosecuted. Why show them? Three men were waterboarded. It was legal and it is over. Move on and think of our soldiers rather than the enemy.

Hey, I can understand no publishing photos for the world to see while we are still at war over there. But I cannot, and never will, understand not investigating who allowed such torture. Hell, if it ain't torture, then publish the fuckin' photos. If it is, then don't publish 'em, but let's prosecute the people responsible (and not just the ones at the bottom).

I believe it can be investigated without publishing photos for the whole world to see. Give me a break. This is just more ACLU BS. Those guys only get it right about 10% of the time.

If it weren't for the ACLU the hobnail boot of the right wing would be stomping down on the throats of moderates and liberals everywhere.

Thanks ACLU for wanting photos released to put the soldiers life at risk. Yes, the big bad right winger, Barrack Obama trying to hide photos!! You left wingers still haven't figured out who the real enemy is. What crackpots.

oh yes and this one. thank you for saving me from some 100 hundred year old statue with 10 commandments on it in Alabama somewhere. Damn, where would we be if that stature remained! What a waste.

Oh, yes, yes, it is the "horrible" ACLU who is putting soldier's lives at risk and not the ignorant, miserable fucksticks who approved and conducted the torture. Yes, yes, yes, you have it all figured out.

And that 10 commandment statue? If you could please, ram it sideways up your asshole. Thank you.

Change that subject CSM! That is the best thing to do when you completely show how illogical your left wing looney-tune view really is. Now once again, who is not releasing the photos?

Hint: His name rhymes with "Your momma"

Ha Ha Ha, thats great

Who changed the subject? It was you Lou, you crazy little right wing lunatic!

And I don't care who isn't releasing the photos. Obama is wrong, in my opinion, not to do so. There. Happy?
