So This is What Socialism Looks Like?

Right off of the White House web site:

My Administration is committed to creating an unprecedented level of openness in Government. We will work together to ensure the public trust and establish a system of transparency, public participation, and collaboration. Openness will strengthen our democracy and promote efficiency and effectiveness in Government.

Government should be transparent...

Government should be participatory...

Government should be collaborative...

Socialism has no relation to any particular degree of openness. Socialism has to do with government controlling the means of producing and distributing goods, services, and/or capital.

And Obama's website can talk all they want about openness. What I've seen thus far is just as much secrecy as the Bush administration.

Socialism ranges from statist to libertarian, from Marxist to liberal.

Is that supposed to make sense?

Libertarian socialism (sometimes called socialist anarchism, and sometimes left libertarianism) is a group of political philosophies that aspire to create a society without political, economic, or social hierarchies, i.e. a society in which all violent or coercive institutions would be dissolved, and in their place every person would have free, equal access to the tools of information and production.

Thanks, csm. I did a little research on this and the phrase "sometimes called socialist anarchism, and sometimes left libertarianism" is a little misleading, though true, it is much more accurate to just call it anarchy. Oh, and I'll just answer my own question...Noam Chomsky.
