Especially for Bev

This Washington Post-ABC News poll was conducted by telephone May 29-June 1, 2007, among a random national sample of 1,205 adults, including an oversample of African Americans, for a total of 284 black respondents. The results from the full survey have an error margin of plus or minus three percentage points.

Basically, for those who don't want to click over and digest the poll, here is what I took from it. Things are looking quite stable at this point, but it could change. Among Democrats, Hillary Clinton leads with 35% support, followed by Barack Obama at 23%, Al Gore at 17% and John Edwards at 8%. Al Gore is third and he isn't even running.

What about the Republicans? Over there, Rudy Giuliani leads with 32%, followed by John McCain at 19%, Fred Thompson at 11%, Newt Gingrich at 9% and Mitt Romney also at 9%. Again, we find candidates polling well who are not (yet) running: Thompson in third and Gingrich in fourth.

Another interesting thing (to me at least) is that 50% of Republicans are less likely to vote for Giuliani after being told he "has been a supporter of legal abortion and gay civil unions." (it is question #43 for those who don't trust me)

I ALWAYS trust you, csm.
To be perfectly honest, I don't look at the Dem polls much. I'm for everyone, and one of them will get the nod. :) I'll vote for Clinton in the primaries so what's to look at.

It's the GOP trends that I watch. I still can't imagine who will be the GOP candidate.
I think Newt wants to get in, but he thinks he can wait until fall. I don't think so.
I think the only candidate in either party who can wait as long as he wants is Al Gore.
I cannot see Giuliani getting the nomination, although I wouldn't mind.
Mitt Romney is the GWB in the race -- looks good, sounds good, is full of it. Sounds like a good candidate for the Gulliable Old party.
McCain's views are polarizing for the GOP.
Fred Thompson? I guess he could, but other than a good actor, I don't get that one. OH! I get that one.
Any thoughts on the debate last night?

Here is some commentary on one person's view of the debate: http://www.watchblog.com/democrats/archives/005168.html

I agreed very much with the commentary. I really like all these candidates in general.
but I'm not asking Gravel in for a subsequent interview; he is now a one-note samba and Kucinich sings it better. Kucinich blaming Democrats for Iraq crossed him off my list for another interview. I like Dodd's answer for his first 100 days -- give back habeus corpus. I liked Richardson's "Heroes' Health Care Card" but other than that, I'm not sure he's up for the top job. I thought Biden was excellent, and I usually don't; the Angry Man didn't go over with me, but at least the passion had to do with Darfur, which I applaud. I think Edwards, whom I love, is actually starting to look a little desperate -- and I think Obama ate him for lunch on the leadership snipe. I thought Obama held his own and I thought Clinton was topnotch.

And I agree with coreyd, the second half was a good idea but didn't quite do it for me.

Testing to see if I can get a link to work. It's a cartoon.

csm, I love the new web site, but I wish I could see who has posted like we could on the other site. I'm wanting know if bawdy posted, or whatever. Probabaly because there are some people I don't bother to read. I sit here while students work out problems and look at news. When I clicked on freethinker's, I could see immediately if I wanted to read.
(Leave it to a woman to start moving the furniture, huh?)
I know freethinker's was a bit stripped, but there were some features that sort of developed our "community."
btw, love that you can delete offensive idiots.

bev, i hate to tell ya this, but that comment that was removed was mine. and i was the one 2 remove it, 2. (it was my 1st attempt at posting a working link. didn't go so well.)

do y'all collapse the comments? i like 2, but it only helps so much. aside from that, start memorizin' the # of comments... ;-)

here's a link that'll show ya how 2 post a link!

this is for derf!

and here's a review of a dvd. i have a REALLY hard time accepting the argument that nietzsche would've supported anything nazi, so i'm gonna have 2 rent this one.

And who said I don't find you an offensive idiot?
*grin*
Yeah, maybe not my best moment. Sorry.
OK, I'll try collapsing and memorizing. Don't mean to be bitchin' and moanin'.
Sure is brighter here, huh?

You can delete a comment if you left it in error. Being a chamption of free speech I wouldn't personally delete someone else's comment here.

Thank you, coreyd. I always enjoy the learning experience and, for me, there is sooo much of it available.

Well we passed the 3500 troop death level in Iraq. I sure hope this does start looking more like Korea and we get our troops out of the fucking cities and away from the Iraqi security forces who are showing less and less to be our friends.

I just want to say, regarding the deleted comment, that I was most surprised that csm deleted a commnet -- so your reputation is intact. *I* was the football helmet here (LOL. bawdy!)
csm, the site is too fancy. My tutors now know I'm blogging and they want to know what's going on.There other site was completely uninteresting to them, just a black screen with a bunch of white typing. So, won't be posting in the afternoon nearly as much :)
Now to go learn some stuff via links from coreyd and derf. Is d-e-r-f is back? I was having a hard time with the other, but your name wish is my command.

Just had a chance to click on derF's link. LOVED it.
My mother, a True Christian, would understand. She's been moving my way for years. :) It started the day we went to John Hagee's church for the fun of it and his sermon was on (seriously) Hillary Clinton and her lesbianism.

So, did anyone notice?

i laughed loud enough 2 woke up the beagle, and she's about deaf.
unless you jostle a food wrapper.
then she's got superpowers. :-)

speaking of beagles w/ superpowers: have you heard about the underdog live action movie, due 2 hit theaters aug 3?

the live action bit scares me. and it's a disney flick, which terrifies me. but jason lee is doing the vocal work...
and it's underdog, man.
...
i hope they don't screw it up.
they'd better not screw up underdog. oh, crap.

My father, long since dead, had little use for cartoons, but Underdog had a special place in his heart; I think it had to do with his love(which I have inherited)for the underdog. I think most of America feels that way. I have divorced myself from most pop culture so I will probably not see this when it comes out, but it gladdens my heart to see it is not forgotten and the fact it gives me a chance to remember my father. Thanks.

csm, seriously, you've got to have one of the most amazing memories. As an educator, I'm fascinated.

Anyway, just FROM "Bev" -- today's new Gallup poll:

Clinton (D) 50%, Giuliani (R) 46%
Clinton (D) 49%, McCain (R) 46%
Clinton (D) 53%, Romney (R) 40%
Edwards (D) 50%, Giuliani (R) 45%
Edwards (D) 50%, McCain (R) 44%
Edwards (D) 61%, Romney (R) 32%
Obama (D) 50%, Giuliani (R) 45%
Obama (D) 48%, McCain (R) 46%
Obama (D) 57%, Romney (R) 36%

Interesting poll results... anyway, now that Bloomberg is an Independent it looks like Giuliani soon might not even be the most popular NY mayor in the race.

csm,

I have seen the trailer for Underdog and I have to say I am not optimistic.
