Where reasonable people discuss reason using methods both reasonable and unreasonable...
Can you imagine this level of conversation on say, oh, Fox News?
I would highly suggest for you, and any one else interested to read the book ""The Devil's Delusion: Atheism and its Scientific Pretensions." by self-professed secular Jew and mathematics/philosophies teacher David Berlinski. This tells the story of a Jew who was forced to dig his own grave prior to being shot by a German soldier. Prior to being shot, the old Jewish man advised the German that “God is watching what you are doing.” The Jewish gentleman pointed what i think is the real problem with atheism. "If you have the time please check the book out
while i appreciate your respectful approach, jaajoe, after reading your review (and perusing your site), i will have to say, "pass."
JaaJoe this is actually quite a coincidence. My daughter-in-law was telling me about this book this past weekend and telling me the story of the Jewish man. I don't typically get into the religious arguments on God or No God as they prove futile and nothing more than opinion. I may make the exception with this book.
I've spent more than enough time and cash on religious claptrap over the years, so I won't be reading this (although I have heard of it). Too many times too much of this type of material has proven to be pure drivel, so I've learned my lesson...If someone gave me a copy or it was posted online free of charge I might peruse it. Or, if a major atheist thinker (Hitchens, Dawkins, etc.) reads it and recommends it, then I'd consider reading it... til then, I'll pass, too.
