Drill, baby, Drill?

The Coast Guard says a sheen of oil that's been covering an area in the Gulf of Mexico since an oil rig exploded off the Louisiana coast is growing.

What, is it okay to drill for oil only if it isn't in our country or off our shores?

And by this same logic, should I assume that the Exxon Valdez disaster shows how we shouldn't transport oil? And all nuclear power plants should be shut down because of Chernobyl?

John Galt said...

We could avoid this by using a non-fossil fuel...like natural gas...so says Nancy Pelosi.

I believe the source of that natural gas you speak of John can only be found in spot......the US Congress!

BAWDYSCOT said...

That should have read "one spot".

Bawdy - We should be funding alternative energy programs and not drilling off shore to extend a resource that will run out.

G - Yes. As I stated to Bawdy just now, we should be weening ourselves of of the oil tit. Regarding nuclear energy in the USA, it is very safe today and causes less environmental damage than oil.

John - Yes, we should use a non-fossil fuel. Re: speaker Pelosi, not sure when she said that, but it was obviously a gaffe.

I'm glad to see more Liberals realizing we have a moron in the POTUS. Check out Maher

As long as oil and coal are cheaper than other alternatives for energy, changing to wind or solar will not happen. Besides you need oil to make the gadgets to harness the wind and the sun. And as far as oil running out, with the finds off the Brazilian coast and other areas of the world, this won't happen as soon as environmentalists would like.

Cap and Trade hasn't worked real well(the results are underwhelming)in Europe so it looks like a carbon tax will be more effective but this leaves the politicians in a quandary. How do you make this carbon tax not look like a new tax because as we all know these fuckers just want to keep getting elected.

Oh, Mike, you are so cute...

Just because people do not agree with the president's policies doesn't make him a moron. We should all know after having survived 8 years with an honest-to-gosh moron in that office!

csm said...

By the way, I am against the president's off-shore drilling policy, as well as his policy of using drones to bomb Pakistan.

Bawdy - yes, I understand that everything about this country is based on the almighty dollar. And that will probably be our undoing - maybe the world's undoing.

The almighty dollar - the world's undoing???? What a ridiculous statement...Are you going to renounce your worldly possessions anytime soon csm? Live in a commune maybe? ...laughable...

There you go again, John, slinging around pejoratives like "moron" and "ridiculous." I guess what you find wrong for others to do is just fine and dandy for you, huh?

Mike aka Dragonfly said...

Our Moron-in-Chief has now drilled Big Oil no pun intended), Wall Street, Auto manufacturers, Physicians, Insurance, Tea Partiers, Arizona., Cambridge police, CEOs and now Technology. The man has completely lost hid mind. Sometime Big O it is OK just to keep your mouth shut.

Your list is funny Mike. Technology? Are you talking about the president's comment about XBoxes and iPads being time wasters? Are you saying these things haven't wasted time (especially the XBox)? Not sure exactly what you mean by the president "drilling" these things? Again, cute, perhaps, but you're not making much sense.

John Galt said...

Not so much the same thing csm. Moron and ridiculous have clear definitions.

John Galt said...

Maybe by 'technology' he means blogs.

Just got word(on NPR) that our fearless leader wants more regulation of the off-shore drilling corps. I am not against reasonable regulations for these kinds of businesses, BUT I HAVE BEEN DOING MUCH READING ABOUT THIS(ProPublica) AND THE LAXNESS OF THE REGULATORY AGENCIES ENTRUSTED TO REGULATE THIS FUCKING INDUSTRY SO HOW IN THE FUCK IS MORE REGULATION GOING TO WORK WHEN THEY CAN'T ENFORCE THE FUCKING REGULATIONS WE ALREADY FUCKING HAVE?(Yeah, I am a little pissed.)

AND THIS IS THE FUCKING GOVERNMENT WE HAVE TO DEPEND ON?
